Investigating and Fixing Low Adsense Revenue On Your Website

by Ellis Varenda

Google's AdSense is one of the most popular online advertising systems with website builders. This is mainly due to the fact that the Ads are shown only on pages with a similar topic.

In other words they are designed to detect what your web page is about and serve up relevant adverts that are much more likely to be clicked on by your visitors.

However, quite often you may find that this isn't what happens on your site. In many cases people see adverts that are not at all relevant.

There are a wide range of factors that result in a lack of advertising revenue. We're only going to delve into how to find out if it is due to a shortage of adverts and possible solutions.

To solve this problem you need an understanding of AdSense technology.

Advertisers pay Google to display their ads on websites who sign up to AdSense. Google then displays them on sites whose topics match the advert. However, if no relevant adverts are available, the search engine will serve up any adverts it has available.

Unfortunately, your visitors are less likely to click on these ads.

So, first of all you need to check if the adverts displayed on your website are on-topic. If so, then obviously other factors apart from lack of advertising must be causing your lack of clicks.

If there are few related ads or none at all, it could be that the producers are not advertising on Google. You can check this easily by using Google's search engine.

Go to Google and enter on topic phrases (keywords) into the search box.

If you are able to find lots of adverts, then it means there is no shortage of advertisers, you have just been unable to get them to advertise on your website.

If that is the case, then the issue has to do with how search engines view your site. Basically, they see your pages as off-topic or over generalised.

So, you basically need to change the contents of your pages so they target adverts clearly or focus on particular keywords.

You can easily do this by inserting your your keywords (key topics or phrases) in the title of your pages, as well as in the body of your pages content. You should also make them stand out by making them bold or otherwise highlighting them.

If you can access the title, and description of your pages as they appear in search engine result pages, then try to make them very descriptive.

On the other hand, if few (or no) adverts appear, then there are few advertisers available. In which case you may need to choose a different way to advertise , change your topic or expand its scope. Another method is to capture email addresses and send out a newsletter to a target list

In conclusion, If normal website searches produce lots of topical adverts but you get very few on your site, you need to optimize your web site. If the issue is that few adverts appear online, try widening your product range or changing to affiliate advertising.
